Wedding is one occasion where economic resolves of most families are tested. In Tamil there is a famous saying, which roughly translates as "Build thy house, or conduct a marriage". No doubt, even our ancestors, equated these two processes, owing to their laboriousness. Weddings, these days are much more complicated than our parent's or grandparent's! They have become expensive too. A lot of efforts, which used to go into a successful wedding, are outsources these days. Naturally they add to the overall cost of the whole process. Wedding market is slowly moving to a consumerist economy. From family's perspective cost is a huge factor in conducting a marriage. On the other hand, the couple often tends to think of the beauty of the actual occasion. At times, the gap between those two opinions, are good as day & night.
