South Indian Bridal Make - Up

Every woman deserves to look beautiful. It is true that “beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder” and “beauty is a mirror of your heart” and so on. That being said, when a study was done on why women wear make-up, a majority of the women said that it made them feel more confident and elegant.

So, true enough. Make-up and confidence go pretty much down the same lane. Marriage is when a woman begins a new part of her life. She begins another phase, opening another door of womanhood. And this new phase begins right on the wedding day. It is absolutely normal to feel nervous on your big day, if you are a bride to be. You will be standing in front of a large audience who will probably be judging you based on your height, weight, complexion and wedding clothing. Every component of how you look is quite important in its own way and we are sure you would want to make everything perfect as well too.

However, we all know that not everybody has picture perfect skin shown on magazine covers. So there you go, to hide your flaws and dig up some more confidence from within, make-up can be your best friend.

No clashes:

To begin with, as most of the South Indian women have a more colored skin tone, it is important to choose the right make-up that doesn’t make your look for the day appear too artificial. Also the traditional heavy kanjeevaram silk saree is a traditional wedding wear for many a wedding in South India. To avoid the color of the saree clashing with the make-up, the shades of the latter should be chosen appropriately. For example sarees that are colorful with bright jewelry can be complemented with a more basic nude make-up highlighting one component of your face with color, either your lips or your eyes. Dusky beauties look gorgeous in shades of maroon and coral.

Neutral colors:

If you have to change into multiple outfits during the ceremony, we suggest that you stick with colors like gold, bronze, neutral shades of brown and pink, that can be carried off on any saree with ease. This will eliminate the need for unnecessary multiple make-up changes that might be cumbersome. Also, do not forget to highlight your eyes and define them, because that is what can draw people to you.

Show some lip love:

During your wedding, your pretty little lips are the busiest. They will have a lot of things to do. Your lips will have to greet so many people, smile at everybody, pout for photographs and you might even eat off some lipstick along with the sweet you are offered by your atthaiya. So we suggest you ask your make-up artist to dab on your lips a long lasting lipstick. But wait. What if you only want a particular shade and they don’t have a “long lasting” lipstick in that shade? Well, we gathered a tried and tested trouble shooter for you. After application of your regular lipstic, take a soft tissue and sprinkle talcum powder on the tissue. Dab ur lips with the powdered tissue. Now, your lipstick will last longer. We advise you to try this little trick before the wedding to see if it works for you. Also, during the ceremony, make sure you regularly moisturize your lips with lip balm. Ask your best friend to stay by your side and periodocally remind you. We don’t want cracked lips in photographs now, do we?

Love the skin you are in:

Bangalore based make-up artist Shalini Narayanan says that, while spots and marks are easy to cover, it is difficult to cover bumps on your skin. If you have acne-prone skin, make sure you consult a dermatologist a couple of months way before your wedding. Also, it is essential that you are on a continuous skin care regimen of cleansing, toning and moisturizing your skin. Ask your skin specialist what kind of facials are required for your skin type and bring them into your schedule about 6 months before your big day.

Good sleep is the best beauty care treatment to give yourself

With all the shopping, meeting relatives, planning and pre wedding stress, late nights cannot be avoided. Nevertheless, try and give yourself about 8 hours of sleep, as staying up late at night could make your eyes look puffy and puffy eyes definitely do not come out well in wedding photographs.

Drink (water) like a fish

Water has the ability to wash out all your toxins and can give you a clear glow and healthy looking skin on your big day.

Very important!

This might sound quite regular and unimportant, but it is very important to shape your eyebrows before your big day. It is advisable to do this about 3-4 days before the wedding and not immediately before or on the day of the wedding. Shaping your eyebrows 3-4 days in advance could neutralize skin tone changes in hair removal areas.

Finally, choose the best moisturizer, concealer and foundation for your skin type. Mac is a very popular brand with a wide range of shades for different skin tones.

So plan in advance, stay pretty and fabulous. Because your worth it *wink*
